樹脂與塑料的概念

在了解塑料水箱特性的時候，最好先了解下塑料的相關知識，塑料的主要成分是樹脂，最早，樹脂是指從樹木中分泌出的脂物，如松香就是從松樹分泌出的乳液狀松脂中分離出來的。后來發現，從熱帶昆蟲的分泌物中由可提取樹脂，如蟲膠。有些樹脂還可以從石油中得到，如瀝青。這些都屬于天然存在，其特點是無明顯的熔點，受熱后逐漸軟化，可溶解于有機溶劑，而不溶解于水。出于天然的樹脂無論數量還是質量都不能滿足現實需要，因此，在實際生產中所用的樹脂都是合成樹脂，合成樹脂是人們按照天然樹脂的分子結構和特性，用人工方法合成制造的。由于其是由相對分子質量小的物質經聚合氏應而制得的相對分子質量大的物質，因此稱之為高分子聚合物，簡稱高聚物。一般在常溫常壓下為固體，也有為黏稠液體。
有些合成樹脂可以直接作為塑料使用(如聚乙烯、聚苯乙烯、尼龍等)，但有些合成樹倘必須在其中加入一些助劑，才能作為塑料使用(如酚醛樹脂、氨基樹脂、聚氯乙烯等)。
